Tickets

One of the struggles of community theatre in Saskatoon is advertizement. This show has a VERY limited budget, if we cover costs we are happy. We do not have the ability to advertize like a persephone show. So I thought to myself, self- how can I help. I created a facebook event advertizing beauty and the best. My life has now become a steady stream of inbox messages asking about the show and where to get tickets. It is still two months away and 80% sold. I invited all my friends to the event, they invited theirs and so on and the power of the chain letter has paid off inn a big way. We now hoave over 200 confirmed guests and another 400 tentative. Round one goes to me.

Time Management

I have made it through hell week round one and so so far I am still breathing. I do admit, however, that I have not been to the gym this week. I know that I need to keep going, but my shoulder injury combined with multiple 3am mornings in a row finishing off papers has lead to a sudden decrease in my will to live.
I am not yet off book for the show, meaning I do not have my lines memorized which its fairly pathetic. Currently I simply do not have enough hours in the day to complete everything I have taken on and it is worrisome.

The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

It is that time again. Rehearsals are ramping up and actors are expected to be off book. It is an unwritten law of the universe that this always coincides with the busiest time of the school year for university students because all term projects are becoming due. If I can make it through the next three weeks everything will be okay. Just three weeks.

e-Portfolio

Why have you chosen to do an e-portfolio?
I hope that creation of this project will prove my electronit prowess. This will be a good resourse for other teachers if I happen to become a substitute.

What professional uses does an e-portfolio have for you?

The e-portfolio is going top help me find employment. Why create a portfolio the old fashioned way, when you could create a portfolio for the 21st centurey that all prospective employers can readily access?

What content do you plan to include?

My portfolio will include:

-my educational background

-my personal interests

-my teaching experience

-contact information for my refereces

-jpeg files of leters of recomendation

-a downloadable PDF of my resume

-a link to my blog

What concerns do you have about the process? How do you plan to address these concerns?

The biggest issue I have for my portfolio is learning to transfer me "suitcase" from home to school. This transfer also means a change of platform from PC to Mac. My other concern is that if I want my web page to have a professional look it will be very time consuming, my strategy is to start early and work a little everyday before bed, kind of like reading a book. I have purchased web design for dummies to assist this process.

Tonight, Tonight.

It is time. This weekend the main characters of the cast are going to get costumes for the show. I am interested to sww what my costume is actually going to look like. I hope that the mask is not too overbearing because I will never get famous if people cannot see my beautiful face.

Rehearse during the gold medal game? I THINK NOT!!

Don't get me wrong folks, on a day to day basis I am not a slacker. THat being said I alway sprioritize my time. The director for B&B decided to schedual a practice during the gold medal game of the olympics and I admit my attendance was missing. I mean seriously, was I wrong to skip? I was honest with the director when I explicitedly stated that I am a patriot and that my team needed me. She understood immedaitely, thank god.

A Setback

I went snowboarding on Febuary 14th and at the end of the run whilst taking off my board i managed to dislocate my shoulder. This is the fourth time i have dislocated my shoulder and a previous surgery was supposed to prevent this from hapening again.

This injury is an increadible stress in my life. Not only an i ccondemed to a month in a sling, I have another surgery pending. My role in B&B is now in jeapordy, and rightfully so, an actor that cannnot rehearse is useless.

More to follow.

Show Shape

Today is the begining of the pain train. John and I are joining world gym. I am forced to in order to get into "show shape" for me this means losing weight and gaining manly good looks, for John... well he just likes to be active.

In the begining.

Auditioning for a show is never a stress free time. This show was no different. The problem, if you can call it that, is having so many talented actors and singers all looking for a lead roll. The production this spring (late May, dates to follow) is the classic tale of Beauty and the Beast.

After a couple preperation sessions aspiring young actors were led to a room with a panel of six judges. It was our job to impress, or die trying. I am told that after the first day of auditions there were endless meeting for the next seven days attempting to sort through who is placed in which roll.

Folks, this time I was lucky. I was given the roll of "the best" and now my adventure begins.
